All about Angostura
Produced by Trinidad Distillers Limited, Angostura Rum tends to fall into two categories. The home market generally enjoys its Rums light in style and flavor, and unaged (see-through).
With a relatively light base Rum, the character of its aged products comes exclusively from time in oak and relies on blending to impart complexity.
The number one home brand is the 40% ABV White Oak, with the number two brand being Forres Park Puncheon Rum which has been “Triple filtered to ensure maximum quality and intensity” and is presented at an eye-watering 75% ABV.
There are lightly and medium aged Rums available in the form of Fernandes Black Label and Royal Oak Select.
The export market receives only the Angostura branded range that runs through Reserva (up to 3yo/color filtered), 5-Year-Old, 7-Year-Old, 1919 (NAS), 1824 (12yo) and 1787 (15yo).
In 2013, the company released Legacy, an exceptionally limited-edition release of 20 bottles, priced at US $25,000.
