All about Bulleit
The modern version of Bulleit Bourbon was created by Tom Bulleit in 1987. Reviving Bulleit Bourbon in the late 80s was perfectly timed for the resurgence of American Whiskey, and the Bulleit brand is now widely distributed and very well known. The current recipe is very different from the original, which was technically a rye Whiskey by today’s standards.
The core product today has a mash bill consisting of 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malted barley. In the US it is bottled at 45% ABV, but a bit less than that in certain overseas markets. Notable flavor profiles include salted toffee, vanilla, and sandalwood.
We also detect a light clove aroma and flavor that seems to rise with ice. The finish is dry and has decent length. All the products that bear the Bulleit name have won prestigious awards, and the brand has maintained solid consistency over the years.
