All about Inverleven distillery
Inverleven was located in the Dumbarton Complex, which was owned by George Ballentine and Company. It was built as a part of the Dumbarton complex, in 1938.
Hiram Walker & Sons established Inverleven, to create single malts to be used in blends. Inverleven was mothballed and closed in 1991.
Inverleven was not a distillery at all, but two stills in the complex. The water source for the distillery was the famous Loch Lomond. Their wash still had a capacity of 25,000 liters, and the spirit still had a capacity of 20,000 liters.
Maltings were unpeated and sourced from industrial maltings sites. A combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks were used for maturation.
