All about WhistlePig

WhistlePig is a Vermont-based estate producer of their own Whiskies. However, as they are ramping up production, they still contract out to external sources for the majority of their spirits.

In 2007, a band of dedicated Rye enthusiasts bought the farm — they actually purchased a plot of land in Vermont lovingly named Whistle Pig Farm. They teamed up with master distiller Dave Pickerell — formerly of Maker’s Mark — to bring genuine Rye Whiskey back to the forefront of American Whiskies. It took a lot of time, patience, experimentation, and reinvestment, but they have grown to produce five award-winning core products and have experimented with a variety of finished wood special edition Whiskies too.

As they have been growing his business, WhistlePig has been focused on the end goal of achieving true “estate production” — meaning EVERYTHING is done on site, from growing the grain and distilling the spirit to aging the Whiskey and bottling it for sale.

All about WhistlePig distillery

In 2007, aspiring Whiskey-maker Raj Bhakta bought the farm … in that he actually purchased a plot of land in Vermont lovingly named Whistle Pig Farm. He teamed up with master distiller Dave Pickerell—formerly of Maker’s Mark—to bring genuine Rye Whiskey back to the forefront of American Whiskies.

Their vision was to make Whistle Pig an “estate producer,” which means that all aspects of Whiskey production would be on site from growing the grain to bottling the spirit. 2015 was the first year that this had become a reality (Yea Whistle Pig!).

They started with three core products and have been experimenting with a variety of finished wood Rye Whiskeys. All of their production is getting a lot of attention, winning tons of awards, and has become coveted by Rye Whiskey lovers and bartenders all over the world. These guys know what they are doing.
