A single malt Scotch you definitely want to fill out your Whisky fleet.
Aberfeldy Distillery was founded by the John Dewar & Sons, Ltd. in 1896, they opened their doors in 1898. It sits on the eastern outskirts of Aberfeldy, on the southern bank of the upper Tay. Aberfeldy sources its water from the Pitilie Burn, which runs alongside the distillery. Aberfeldy uses these waters exclusively. Needless to say, these laddies make a pretty damn decent drink.
Their Aberfeldy 21 Year Old single malt is double distilled, made exclusively from barley milled through the distilleries very own Porteus mill, and matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
This Whisky is a plethora of aromas and flavors that will captivate your senses and keep your taste buds quite titillated. On the nose it has an aromas of toasted malt, honey, fruit cake and citrus that give way to notes of heathered smoke, caramel, creamy vanilla and ash. The finish is long and spicy, with a touch of charcoal and stone fruits.
Aberfeldy has their fair share of shiny things, but their 21 YO single malt earned the silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013. It also won gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2013 and was named the "Best Highland Single Malt Whisky” at the World Whiskies Awards in 2014.
