An exceptional twleve-year-old Single Malt with Sherry influence.

There is some question about the exact date of its founding. But we know for certain that James Fleming either built or rebuilt the Aberlour Distillery in 1879. We also know that Aberlour makes an amazing range of Highland Single Malts in the classic Speyside style and we’d gladly sample ANYTHING that they send our way. And their Whiskies win lots of awards, taking home medals in every serious industry competition they enter.

Terms like “double cask” can be confusing. Sometimes it means that a spirit was aged first in one type of cask, then transferred to another. Other times — like we have here — if means that some of the Single Malt was aged in one type of cask and the rest aged in another before the two are married. Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask Matured has about half of its sprit aged in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and the other half aged in Spanish Sherry butts. Both sides were aged for a full twelve years. Together they are an amazing dram of balanced, Speyside Single Malt wonder.

Smartass corner: The name Aberlour refers to the distillery location near the Lour River near its confluence with the Spey River. “Lour” means noisy stream or burn, and “aber” means mouth. Thus, Aberlour roughly translates as “mouth of the noisy stream.”"
