The Rum drinker's perfume.
Albert Heinrich Riise might be the only Dane known for making Rum but oh boy does he have one hell of a reputation. After studying as a chemist and leaving Denmark to set up his own pharmacy in the West Indies in the 19th century, Albert began experimenting with some of the new products he discovered in the Caribbean. The strong alcohol spirit made from molasses, aka Rum, was of particular interest to Albert as he was convinced a healing product could be made from this strong liquid. At first, Albert sold Riise’s Bay Rum, a scented product that people would buy as a perfume. It wasn’t long however before Albert realized that his Rum inventions could be put to much better use as a drink.
Today, A.H. Riise distribute some of the world’s finest and most awarded Rums globally. Let’s just say we are thankful Albert got out of the perfume game! This release is part of the company’s new ultra-premium products that complete the wider A.H Riise range. The name alone gives you a sense of the exclusivity around this one but what it doesn’t tell you is that this has been aged for 25 years and the limited production of 2000 bottles are all hand blended by the Master Distiller of A.H Riise. The creators simply describe it as the best and oldest Rum they have. Nobody likes a bragger but after tasting this Rum it’s tough to argue that point. With an elegant fruitiness and hints of Tobacco in the long aftertaste, this is a must try for fans of sweet Rum.
