An award-winning and respected smoky Single Malt from India with notes of exotic fruit.

The distillery's name — Amrut — comes from Indian mythology, translating as “Elixir of Life” from Sanskrit. Perfect, right? The distillery was founded in 1948. But while other local distilling shops in India were focused on low-cost production, the entire history of Amrut has been a story of improvement, quality, and taste. They really care, and that shows in all of the progress and growth they have experienced over the years.

Today, they produce a range of eleven core Whiskies and a few special editions, all tasty-good. In 2010, no less than Jim Murray called Amrut Single Malt the “Third Finest Whisky in the World.” John Hansell of The Whiskey Advocate has raved as well, and we think that you’ll love it too.

Can you imagine a peated Single Malt from India? You do not have to imagine, you can drink it.

Amrut Peated Malt Cask Strength is their signature Single Malt Spirit made from lightly peated grain. The Phenol ppm is about 23 — which is close to a Bowmore in smokiness. The really unique thing is that the warm, humid climate in Bangalore has let this Whisky blossom with notes of exotic fruit. And by “cask strength” they mean a rip-roaring 62.8% ABV. It’s so good that Jim Murray even rated it at 92 points."

Excellent sweet flavor profile...

Excellent sweet flavor profile with peat - consider - Oban + Peated whiskey like Talisker (not as distinctive as Ardberg Laphroig or Caol Ila/Lagavulin)
