Yep, you read that right. A Gin crafted with real coca leaves.
Coca leaves were considered sacred in the ancient Peruvian society due to their mystical powers and healing properties which helped overcome hunger and sickness. Still today, indigenous tribes consume coca leaves by chewing them fresh to get that extra energy kick. How does one go from mystical ancient rituals to Gin, you might ask. Actually, the only coca leaf Gin in the world is a love child, born on a backpacking trip in South America. It was created by a married couple, Eveline and Jeroen, who together bring 112 years of experience, becoming the fourth generation of a Belgian distilling family. During their year-long travel, searching for that je ne sais quoi ingredient, they encountered a tribe who introduced them to the sacred ceremony. They immediately knew this was it.
Realizing you never know what tomorrow will bring, the creators wanted to craft an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind Gin. Like, go big or go home. Bottling up the taste of South American rainforest, the White Edition features ethically sourced, real Peruvian coca leaves just like its black bottle counterpart, but with a more diverse range of botanicals. Incorporating hand-picked finger lime, cardamom and coriander, the bitter and distinct flavor of coca leaves is beautifully balanced. The result is a lively, fresh Spirit, offering warm notes of Szechuan pepper, South American tamarillo, papaya and dragon fruit. The White Edition designer bottle is just as extravagant, only instead of black extravaganza, it is the yin to its yang, bringing forward white decadence. Obviously, the 24K gold leaf is still here. We'd keep it, too.
