Everything lovely about anCnoc single malt with a delicate, savory puff of smoke.

John Morrison found a patch of land rich with barley, Highland spring water, and shallow bogs of dry peat. He smartly grasped the opportunity and bought the Knock Estate from the Duke of Fife, giving birth to the Knockdhu distillery 1894. With time the methods of production have changed, but their dedication to quality has not. Today they produce a wide range of single malts of various styles, ages, and special editions.

A "rascan" is a traditional farmer’s tool used to harvest peat from the bogs. So the name alone tells you a bit about anCnoc Rascan Peated Single Malt Whisky. But all anCnoc Whiskies are Highlanders at their heart, so the peating is very mild. So what we are saying is that anCnoc Rascan Peated is all of the lovely, fruit-forward and delicate single malt that anCnoc fans are expecting with just a pleasant whiff of peat smoke in the background.

Smartass Corner:
The smoky/peaty/charring flavor of Scottish Whiskies is measured by the phenol levels measure in parts-per-million (ppm), and anCnoc Rascan clocks in at just 11.1 ppm. By contrast, Bruichladdich Octomore is a heavily-peated monster with 169 ppm — more than fifteen times more.
