Angels' Nectar Blended Malt Whisky Rich Peat Edition

A Devil in Disguise.

Angels have been shamelessly stealing our Whisky for years, so it’s high time someone decided to do something about it and retrieve some of our lost treasures. That someone is Grantown-on-Spey based Highfern Ltd, who decided to bottle a “cut” of the Angel’s Share, the name of course alluding to the infamous 2% of Whisky that evaporates from the casks during maturation every year. This may not sound like a lot initially, but considering Whisky has to be aged for at least three years and there are literally millions of casks maturing all around the world, these things add up.

But this is not just a game of simple addition. No, sir. Blending Whisky is an art in its own right. The different malts in a blend must be carefully chosen to complement and enhance one another. Perhaps we don’t know much about art, but we know Whisky and we know what we like and we definitely like what Highfern have been doing with their blended expressions. Their motto is 'Blended by Angels, Shared with Friends'. They decided to combine a number of Scottish malts to recreate what the Angels might well be enjoying up in Whisky Wonderland and we’re here to share the Nectar with you – our friends.

They came out with their standard First Edition blend a while back, so here go, once more unto the breach, dear friends. Angel’s Nectar Blended Malt Whisky Rich Peat Edition is the smokier, stronger variant of the range, made with a selection of Highland malts. Bottled at 46 % ABV and packing plenty of peaty punch, it’s strong enough to make the angels weep. A true devil in disguise. Add a splash of water, if you want to smooth out the showing horns. Either way, this Whisky is definitely not a devil’s bargain, but a great blended malt we would highly recommend if you like your Whisky smoky, warm and strong.
