The classic, sweet, fruit-laden style of Benriach.
The BenRiach distillery, one of the few independent Scottish distilleries left, was founded in 1898 by John Duff. The distillery has largely remained inactive during the 20th century since it was mothballed in 1900 due to the collapse of a major Scotch Whisky purchaser. It was reopened again in 1965, but remained struggling until 2004 when it was acquired by an independent consortium. The company is now lead by two South African funding partners, Geoff Bell and Wayne Keiswetter, and Scotch expert Billy Walker.
In the Heart of Speyside, between the barley fields and the foothills of the Grampian Mountains, lies this famous Scottish distillery. As for all great distilleries they use mostly, if not exclusively, resources that are locally available. The grains used for production grow all around the distillery and the water is drawn through the rocks from deep below.
Want to taste Benriach’s signature smooth and multi-layered character? Benriach The Original Ten was aged for at least 10 years in three casks: Bourbon, Sherry, and virgin oak casks. This complex aging process resulted in endless layers of luscious orchard fruit, honeyed malt, and toasted oak, all tied together with a subtle trace of smoke. Master Blender Rachel Barrie described this offering as the classic, sweet, fruit-laden style of Benriach and we agree. Savor this richly layered Speyside Single Malt neat, with a drop of water, or on the rocks.
