Boopa-dee Bappa-dee, Bepi! It's smoked!
When Bepi Tosolini decided to dive into distillation in 1943, it was with a clear goal: He would take Grappa, the traditionally rustic Italian Spirit, to new heights. A classy Grappa for the discerning palate! Thus the founder and Master Distiller went about building steam stills that manage to capture the gentle aromas and tastes of grapes, contained in the marc. Nowadays the distillery is run by his grandchildren. It's not just the know-how that's been passed down ― it's the love and passion as well. And if we know one thing about Italians, it's that they take those seriously.
You'll find a special little gem in their lineup of Grappa, Acquavite, Liqueur, and Brandy ― Smoked Grappa. Made from red grapes coming from nearby vineyards in the Friuli region, this Spirit starts from an entirely different place, yet comes dangerously close to Scotch territory. Aging in French oak barrels definitely helps, but it's the smoke from oak chips and Kentucky tobacco leaves in those casks that impart the deliciously smoky profile. Che bontà!
