Big Peat, Big Feet, Big Neat.

The Douglas Laing Company was founded in 1948 by — you guessed it — Douglas Laing. They have a stellar reputation as one of the leading independent bottlers of Scotch Whisky in the United Kingdom. They started as by purchasing single casks of fine Single Malts. Then they grew to create their own blends. Now they even commission small batch production from some of the finest Whisky makers in Scotland and a few small shops too. This has allowed them to develop a solid range of private-label products to round out the offerings.

Big Peat is a Blended Malt Whisky (a mixture of single Malt Whiskies that contains no grain Whisky or a marriage of Malts as the Scotch Whisky industry has traditionally called it), a blend of Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen. No chill filtration takes place, but a more old fashioned traditional approach, which amplifies the sea-faring qualities on the nose, palate, and finish. Quite phenolic.
