Gin from the most northerly distillery in Scotland.
Blackwood Distillery on the isle of Shetland was first opened in 2002 and began producing locally sourced Gin and Vodka. The company went into administration a few years later. However, with recent interest from Canadian investors the distillery looks set top open again, making it the most northerly distillery in Scotland. There could be hope for Blackwood yet, the world could still see a Shetland malt someday!
The handpicked botanicals that go into Blackwood’s Vintage Dry Gin certainly make for a quality drink. This is something close to the producers’ heart, which boasts quality not quantity, as they only produce their drinks in small batches. This Gin has of course the tell tale aroma and flavour of juniper, made all the better from the vast array of floral and herby delights along the way. Coriander is another big flavour in the Blackwood’s Gin profile and this mixes well with the citrus fruit freshness that burst onto the palate.
