A delicious, truffle-infused Gin with a savory, earthy flavor profile.
Up in the mountains, southwest of Strasbourg in the middle of the famous Black Forest, sits The Black Forest Boar Distillery. They officially claim, “Handmade Quality in Our Own Distillery - By Tradition Since 1844.” But we think that probably means a home distillery, not production. But who knows, right? What we have is a small, craft distillery making quality Gin in some very unique ways, and that’s all we need to know.
What makes Boar Premium Dry Gin interesting is the list of botanicals harvested locally in the forest — a closely-held secret. But we have our sources. In addition to expected juniper berries, lemon zest, lavender, and coriander they add thyme and black forest truffles! Yes, you did read that correctly — black forest truffles. We’ve tasted hundreds of Gins and this is the first time we’ve ever seen that ingredient listed in any infusion… anywhere. It’s rare and expensive and coveted by gourmet chefs all over the world. And it adds a savory earthiness to the Gin that’s simply delicious. It’s also won more awards than any other Gin the last two years.
Smartass corner:
Truffles are fungi — similar to mushrooms — that grow completely underground at the base of certain tree species. They are exceptionally valuable — second only to Saffron in rarity and value as a flavoring.
