Why would you name your company "Broken Bones?" The distillery was founded in Slovenia by Boštjan Marušič, Borut Osojnik, and Polona Preskar. They hadn’t named their fledgling business yet and were filling barrels of Whisky for aging. Boštjan and Borut both had just come from the hospital because one had broken a leg and the other his nose. So, the distillery named itself. They produce a tidy range of five Gins and a Whisky from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Broken Bones London Dry Gin is produced in small batches and made in a still, designed by the Broken Bones folk themselves (No bones were broken during this process, they say.). Cut to bottle at 90 proof, the base for this London Dry Gin is a carefully selected mix of 10 botanicals. The lemon peel and rosehip are there for freshness, liquorice for the slight sweetness, coriander and cardamom 'cuz you need a 'lil spice in your life and linden flowers to wrap it all up real nice and round. We haven't forgotten about the main guy, of course, the almighty juniper. Ethereal, fresh and daring – through the sound of all the awards flying in, we heard some judges saying this is 'Gin as it should be'.
Smartass Corner:
