Ride the White Lightning.

The Buffalo Trace Distillery which is located in Frankfort, Kentucky has been making Bourbon Whiskey for over 200 years. Named after the American bison, Buffalo Trace has in all these years never stopped producing Whiskey — not even in the days of the Prohibition, when they were allowed to produce "medicinal" Whiskey, khm.

In the past decade Buffalo Trace has won more awards than any other distillery in the World, including 7 "Distillery of the Year" titles. In 2013 they were designated as a National Historic Landmark, joining an elite group of the most influential places in North America.

The Buffalo Trace White Dog Mash #1 is an un-aged, unflavored Whiskey distillate that is bottled directly at barrel strength, thus preserving the full taste of a White Whiskey and making it the closest thing to a "legal" Moonshine. White Whiskey is also known as White Dog, White Mash, New Make and even White Lightning — a name referring to the jolt of lightning that follows after tasting it, and at 62.5% ABV there will be some lightning, for sure. White Dog Mash #1 eventually becomes Buffalo Trace Bourbon.

Basically a corn-based Tequila...

Basically a corn-based Tequila Blanco. Syrupy sweet, lot of heat, unrefined, which I guess is the point. It's wild that BT, Pappy, Eagle Rare, Weller's, and Blanton's all start off tasting similar to this.

Someone got me one of those ...

Someone got me one of those “make your own whiskey just add liquor” barrel kits. This, some water and the flavoring, plus some weeks in the barrel, was a fun lark. The kit also suggested flavoring vodka in the barrel… no. Try this instead.
