This is what a blended malt is supposed to be — poised, exclusive, refined, and welcoming all at the same time.

The premiss of Chapter 7 Whisky is simple — each cask of Whisky is unique. The wood, age, temperature, its location in the rick-house… everything tells its own story. Large Scotch producers marry casks in large vats before bottling so that the master blender can try to make them all taste the same. The folks at Chapter 7 Whisky think that’s a shame.

Chapter 7 is the brain-child of Selim Evin. He thinks that each cask should tell its own unique tale, so he travels to Scotland and Ireland to hand-select single casks from the inventories of the world’s greatest distilleries. Then he custom bottles each one with its own story. How many bottles you ask? Well, until the barrel is empty.

So, the folks at Chapter 7 were rummaging through the warehouses and came across four casks of rare blended malt Whisky that were twenty-four years old. They were AMAZING. But two of those casks were better than the other two. So, they have issued this limited edition Anecdote release based on those two "best" casks… and that is about as exclusive and discriminating as you will ever hear.

Chapter 7 Anecdote 24 Year Old 1995 vintage was bottled in March of 2020 after aging nearly a quarter century in those two special ex-Bourbon casks, yielding just 424 bottles at 47.9% ABV. The blend consists of 17% Laphroaig, 20% Highland Park, and 63% Speysiders.

Smartass Corner:
Chapter 7 has organized their releases into three categories. "Monologues" are single cask releases with a strictly limited quantity. "Anecdotes" are small batch or select blends that cannot be reproduced. Finally, "Chronicles" are small batch editions that are reproducible in limited releases.

Appearance / Color
Light Toffee

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The fragrance leans strongly toward Speyside fruits — apple, peach, apricot, and pear — custard, and just a pinch of peat.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate opens with a full mouth-feel and a floral/lavender note before revealing stewed apricot, marmalade, fresh shortbread biscuits, and a dash of smoke.

Finish
The finish is long, lightly sweet, and chewy with overripe pear and a tinge of warm peat.
