There was a time when you couldn’t get Código Tequila unless you were one of the Los Bajos' finest jimadors who were in on the closely-guarded secret. Either that, or if you were George Strait. The beloved American country singer, also known modestly as the “King of Country”, has been a huge fan of the liquid long before it was available to mere mortals. So much so that he even wrote a song about it.

Código 1530 Rosa Tequila takes the purity of their Blanco to the next level. After spending 1 month in uncharred Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak Wine barrels, it comes out of the wood in a subtle pink hue. The rich and delicate botanical balance of Blanco is enriched with a floral finish and soft red Wine notes from the Cabernet. At the 2018 Stuttgart International Spirits Competition they liked it so much, they awarded it a Gold medal and Millenial Award Best Tequila.

The pinkish/amber color first ...

The pinkish/amber color first grabs you, very cool. I like the taste of the agave that is unmasked in a blanco; hints of floral, citrus abound. The cab sav uncharred barrels used here gives this tequila some notes of tannins. This is not a Reposado/Anjeo, so don't expect big bold character. Enjoy the subtitles, and groove on the natural agave flavor people.
