Welcome to the dark side.
Copperhead NV is the maker of two Gins: “Mr. Copperhead” and “Black Batch." The company claims to have been founded on a secretly discovered recipe derived from “a notorious alchemist” named Mr. Copperhead who divined the ingredients while searching for “the elixir of life.” That’s why they call their Gin line “The Alchemist’s Gin.” Their marketing and creative teams are sticking to that story, so we’ll just go on to let you know that their products are made in Belgium and that records suggest that they were founded in 2014.
So, after discovering the flagship “Mr. Copperhead” gin, the aforementioned alchemist decided to continue his search for the “elixir of life.” The original Copperhead recipe featured five main botanicals – juniper, orange zest, angelica, coriander and cardamom. Mr. Copperhead added elderberry, black berries and black Ceylon tea rose to the original list and so Copperhead Gin Black Batch was born. Triple distilled, the Spirit is crafted in small batches using traditional methods in a copper pot still. Voilà, black magic.
The end result is a Gin versatile enough to mix and delicate enough to enjoy neat. This is not your typical London Dry Gin, nor does it pretend to be. Everybody’s got a dark side and we love it. It makes life interesting, plus it goes well with tonic water.
