Distiller's edition, double matured Speysider from the ancient year of 2005.
The Cragganmore distillery was established by John Smith in 1869. The site was meticulously chosen for its proximity of a water source and because it was so close to the newly built Strathspey Railway. Smith had a long and colorful career, working as a distiller for The Macallan, Glenlivet and Glenfarclas before he set off on his own path. Cragganmore is owned by Diageo nowadays but the Spirit of the past remains alive in the distillery. The uniqueness of the dram that is produced by Cragganmore comes from the second distillation. The stills used are special in every aspect as they have a flat top and are very short, resulting in a meaty and complex Whisky.
Now let us paint you a picture. It’s the year 2005. 50 Cent just released Candy shop. Miss Congeniality 2 was playing in the movies and maybe you just bought your 3rd pair of flared jeans. Life was good. Well, while you were texting on your Motorola, the Cragganmore vintage entry in Diageo's Distillers Edition series was distilled in Speyside, Scotland. Fast-forward (Only it wasn't so fast.) to 2017, this double matured Single Malt was bottled at 80 proof after finishing in Port pipes. Part of an exquisite selection from the finest of Scotland's distilleries, it's adored for its extraordinary sweetness, fruity depth and complex aroma. This is an elegant and sophisticated Speysider with all the sweetish notes and smoky maltiness one should possess. Safe to say it’s way classier than most things from 2005.
