A classic Speyside Single malt aged in Sherry casks and finished in Port wood for a succulent, juicy profile.
1969 was a very good year. Mahatma Gandhi was born, Leo Tolstoy publish War and Peace, and Cragganmore Distillery was founded by John Smith near the waters of the Craggan Burn. Smith was an experienced distiller who had served as manager at The Macallan, Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, and Wishaw. Their Whiskies have been included in premium blends since day one, and their Single Malt releases are followed by a legion of fans. Today they are part of the Classic Malts range of United Distillers.
Since 1998 Cragganmore has participated in the Classic Malts Distillers Edition — limited edition releases of select casks from Scotland’s finest distilleries. Cragganmore Distillers Edition 2020 was distilled in 2008. The base aging has taken place in Sherry casks. This dram has then been finished for six to eight months in Port Wine casks. The combination give this Speyside classic a lovely juicy and rancio profile that makes us think of the word "succulent."
