A Belgian Single Malt aged in Sherry casks for ten years from the most respected distillery in Flanders.
The story of Filliers begins 1880 when a precocious young man — Karel Lodewijk Filliers — suggests that they start distilling Jenever to supplement the family farm in Belgium. It was a wise father that listened to his son that day. The Jenever was a huge success and they soon expanded to various bottlings, agings, and flavorings until the spectrum of Jenever possibilities had seemingly been exhausted. So, they started distilling other things like classic Dutch Advocaat, Gin, Wortengemsen, Vodka, Whisky, and even Coffee Liqueur. Two-hundred forty years later and this family-owned business is still get’in done Belgian style.
Filliers has been producing Whiskies for quite a while — mostly under their Goldly’s brand. Filliers 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Casks proudly bears the Filliers name and is a premium Single Malt Whisky that has been aged full decade in Spanish Sherry casks. Importantly, Batch #1 is a strictly limited distillery bottling of just two thousand bottles at 43% ABV. We don’t know if they will do a second release of this Belgian beauty… but they should.
