If ever there was a Gin that served as an institution of London style, this is it.
The Finsbury Distillery Company was founded in London in 1740 by Joseph Bishop. Across its history the company made a range of Spirits from Liqueurs and Gins to Ginger Wine. But they are best known for their namesake line of Gins. The company was acquired in 1993 by the Germany-based Borco, but they largely leave the chaps at Finsbury alone to do what they have been doing for nearly three hundred years.
The original Finsbury Gin was made on a molasses-based Spirit. But they created Finsbury Platinum Gin to step things up a notch… several notches, in fact. It is based on a neutral Grain Spirit distilled six times for exceptional smoothness and purity. The recipe is a closely guarded secret, but it is crafted in the traditional style of London Dry. You’ll find that it is bottled strong for a Gin at 47% ABV. They insist that it is that precise proof that adds an intensity to the juniper and other botanicals. And raving fans agree. It is a premium Gin sought-after on the craft cocktail circuit.
