A bold, earthy Gin from Stuttgart, Germany, that deserves all of accolades and attention it has received.
Over the last few years, Germany has become a hotspot for the creation of new premium Gins. Alexander Franke was a radio host who interviewed Markus Escher, who grew up in a Winery. The struck up a friendship and shared a love of good Gin. They started playing with the idea of making their own and experimented for two years before launching their brand GINSTR in 2016.
GINSTR Stuttgart Dry Gin is 100% made in Stuttgart and bottled in small batches of 711 bottles at a time. Each bottle is individually numbered by hand. And the sheer number of botanical infusions is impressive — there are forty-six of them. That’s far too many to list here, but they include juniper, rosemary, hibiscus blossoms, cardamom, coriander, licorice, Kaffir lime leaves, orange blossoms, pomegranate seeds, and a bunch more. The results are equally impressive.
Markus and Alexander share a photo of them wearing some of the industry awards they’ve received. They were even the first German Gin to win the "GIN 7 TONIC TROPHY" AT THE IWSC. And all we can say that they certainly earned them.
Smartass Corner:
GINSTR is a play on "Ginster" (as a person who likes Gin) and the three-letter call sign for their hometown airport — Stuttgart STR.
