Glen Moray was born as West Brewery run by Robert Thorne & Sons. It was converted into a Whisky distillery in 1897 because … they were very very smart. From the very start, quality has been job one. The dedication and “authenticity” of Glen Moray’s single malt production is just about as good as it gets—changing very little over nearly 120 years of production on the same spot.

The distillery sits on the banks of River Lossie in the Royal Burgh of Elgin—the historic capital of Speyside—and the road into town passes directly through the distillery grounds. Today, all of their production goes into their range of nine, single-malt editions.

Portwood finished Highland single-malt Whisky is just one of the finest combinations you can get. Like its Sherry cousin, Port is a fortified wine. But Ports are made mostly in Portugal—thus the name—and they are darker and flavor-packed. And what those Port casks do to Whisky is awesome. What they do to a Glen Moray single-malt that is already 25 years old is simply magic.
