Scotch Whisky legend William Grant founded the Glenfiddich distillery in 1887 with old equipment bought from the Cardhu Distillery. It’s fairly common for Scottish Whiskies to be aged in Bourbon barrels and some are “finished” in Sherry casks. What sets this dram apart is that the spirit was aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks for the full eighteen years. Spending all that time in fully-seasoned wood doesn’t “just” add flavor. It develops an approachable depth of character and complexity that really shines with flavor.
