Glenfiddich is the #1 selling single malt in the world.
Founded in 1887, with machinery bought from the Cardhu Distillery, William Grant created Glenfiddich. Still in the hands of the Grant family, Glenfiddich is the biggest selling malt Whisky worldwide and remains Scottish owned and independent. William Grant pioneered their Whiskies as single malts at a time when malts were produced to supply blended Whisky producers. It's a vision that has paid off, thanks for creating the category, Mr. Grant!
Everyone who knows anything about Scotch or even Whisky in general knows Glenfiddich. Not only are they a top 3 producer, of premium single malt fame, but they are the much honored and loved Speyside of choice for many, and they have a wide range of ageings, casks, and special editions.
Over the last few years, Glenfiddich has stretched its wings quite a bit, issuing some interesting Whiskies that are really edgy. Glenfiddich is a Speyside Highland single malt. What that usually means is a light, fruit forward dram with a sweet, almost floral aroma. We like it when an older, established brand like Glenfiddich takes some risks, and Glenfiddich Vintage Cask is one example of that.
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask breaks all the rules. First, it uses older casks that were reused several times. The older and greater the mix of cask types, the more character and variety of Whisky you can get out of it. And this is a peated Whisky! Yep… you read that correctly. This is a peated dram from a distillery famous for NOT using peat. All this makes Glenfiddich Vintage Cask a most curious should try for any Highlander fan.
