Jamaica has plenty on offer both as a beautiful holiday destination and as a great Rum producer. Jamaican Rum is famous, for its big, enigmatic flavors, most often described as "funky, " and Habitation Velier decided the world needs more funk, so here we are. You know what they say – if you fake the funk, your nose will grow. Well, there's nothing fake about Forsyths WP 502 Habitation Velier, so you can breathe easy.
Habitation Velier is a very special project created by the Italian Rum connoisseur and the owner of the company, Luca Gargnano, with the help of some of the finest Rum distilleries in the Caribbean. For the expression at hand, they teamed up with the Worthy Park Distillery – the quintessential Jamaican distillery with more than 300 years of experience in the Rum-making business. In 2005, Worthy Park decided to construct a new, state-of-the-art distillery and we consider ourselves truly lucky to experience firsthand the fruits of their labor.
Made from molasses, the WP 502 represents everything we love about Jamaican Rum. It has been fermented for an incredible three months, which means plenty of punch and plenty of flavors. It is distilled on Worthy Park’s Forsyth Pot Still and bottled at a whopping 57% ABV. This has every bit of personality you would expect in a Jamaican Rum. It works brilliantly as a sipping Rum or mixed in your favorite cocktail.
Perhaps a bit challenging on the palate, but that’s Jamaican Rum for you. Heavy esters, super aromatic. Quite an enigma in itself, an acquired taste perhaps, but once you acquire it, well, there’s no turning back, you can be sure of that. If you’re looking for something more robust and unique, this is definitely the way to go. You in?
