A new entry into the Single Malt world of Highland Park is aged ten years in Sherry-season American and European oak.

Highland Park is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the Orkney island. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that "Highland Park" means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their Spirit is closer to a midpoint between Lowland and Islay Single Malts. Perhaps the most famous Whiskey connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, "The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky."

Would you name your Whisky "scars?" Well, Highland Park did exactly that. And we’ve read a lot of speculation as to why the chose such a name, but then we decided to just happily drink the Single Malt and leave that question unanswered.

Highland Park Viking Scars 10 Years Old is actually the youngest age-stated dram in their core lineup. But ten year is nothing to sneeze at. This is the famous Single Malt aged in Sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks for a decade. And we would take it as a daily dram given the chance.
