Complexity, consistency, and gentleness set it apart.
The Loch Lamond Distillery near Glasgow is famous for craftsmanship, low-volume production, and their unique distillation process. Loch Lomond Whisky is their standard Lowland Single Malt and Inchmurrin is their top-of-the-line product line. Inchmurrin is actually the name of a lovely island in the middle of the famous Loch Lomond — it’s verdant green rises up in the middle of the misty lake like Avalon. And maybe that’s the point.
Inchmurrin-branded Whiskies rise above their already great core line-up at Loch Lomond. It’s just a bit older, finer, rarer, and just plain delicious. Inchmurrin 12 YO starts with the best casks of Loch Lomond Spirit aged in a delicate balance of cask types — ex-Bourbon, in-house refill, and in-house re-charred. We don’t know anyone else who does it quite like this, which makes it cool. They also eschew chill-filtration and bottle at a perfect 46% ABV. But the result is what matters, and this unique casking pattern adds a complexity, consistency, and gentleness that sets it a bit apart from the rest.
