This “superstar Whisky” brings you the best of malt from the Islands and Speyside.

Ian Macleod Distillers is an independent and family-owned bottler on the Isle of Sky and a huge name in the Whisky industry. The island is located off the West Coast of Scotland and it’s mostly famous for its beautiful nature and excellent Whisky – it’s also the home of The Clan Macleod, the founder’s clan. Ian Macleod Distillers can show off a seriously impressive portfolio with brands like Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Edinburgh Gin to name a few. But the brand of blended Whisky Isle of Skye will always come first on that list as it was the first brand the company acquired in 1963.

To create Isle of Skye 8 Year Old, The Ian Macleod folks source malt Whisky from the Islands and Speyside. The dram was aged for at least 8 years in used American oak casks and it’s gotten raving reviews all over. Jim Murray even called it a “superstar Whisky” in the 2019 Whisky Bible. Was it the stunning harmony of peat smoke and sea salt? The enticing nose of sweet maple and vanilla? Could be, we just know this is some darn good Whisky.

Young and full of life; a bit rough around the edges, but very much worth your time even if just for a taste. I definitely try to keep a bottle on hand. Also makes a lovely comparison to other Scotches.
