They are calling it the most robust Kentucky Owl batch ever, and we agree.
The original Kentucky Owl Whiskey was made by Charles Mortimer Dedman in the late 1800s. After every drop of this "Wise Man’s Whiskey" in inventory was, ahem… "confiscated" by federal agents under mysterious circumstances at the start of Prohibition, the C.M. Dedman Distillery faded into history. But just a few years ago his great-great-grandson — Dixon Dedman — revived the brand, creating the Kentucky Owl Bourbons and Ryes as small batch, super-premium Spirit blends.
Kentucky Owl is developing a cult-like following of fans who wait eagerly for each release. And no wonder… these things are powerful examples of quality and passion for the Spirits. Kentucky Owl Batch 9 is the latest release and — according to Dixon Dedman himself — "… is the most robust Kentucky Owl batch I’ve ever created."
It’s crafted from four different sourced distillates with four different mash bills. One of the components is aged fifteen years, two are aged fourteen years, one twelve years, and a seven year-old makes up the rest. The resulting 10,314 bottles are bottled at a blistering 63.8% ABV, so we recommend serving it on the rocks.
