The aged version of Kyrö's smash hit Gin.
The idea for Kyrö Distillery Company came about when a bunch of friends were hanging in the sauna and sipping on Rye ― which is undoubtedly how many great stories start in Finland. The beverage on hand probably had something to do with the distillery focusing on rye Spirit exclusively. After a little bit of tinkering and distilling at home, they found an old dairy where their very own stills started running in 2014. With their maturing Whisky safely tucked away, they turned to Gin in the meantime. The first award came practically instantly and their stock was sold out in a matter of days.
What started as a way to keep themselves busy while waiting for the Whisky to mature, turned out to be a delicious Gin! Kyrö Dark Gin was formerly known as Koskue. This aged variant spends 3 to 12 months in American oak. Apart from the aging, it's similar to their regular Gin that is crafted with 13 traditional botanicals and 4 locally-foraged Nordic ones. The meadowsweet, cranberries, and birch leaves are all in there, but the sea buckthorn is replaced by orange peel and black pepper, making for a deliciously oaky Spirit that's super versatile ― it'll warm you up on a cold, stormy night or cool you on a hot summer day.
