The battle of Lepanto.

Manuel María González started his business in Jerez, Andalusia in the early 19th century. It was at the beginning of the Sherry boom when he teamed-up with English importer Robert Blake Byass, thereby launching the González Byass distillery.

Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva PX is produced from Palomino grapes, which are picked early to obtain high acidity levels. The spirit is distilled twice and aged 12 years in old Tio Pepe casks, followed by 3 years in casks used for the maturation of Pedro Ximenez.

The Lepanto name is reminiscent of the great naval battle of Lepanto, when the Spaniards and Venetians fought the Ottomans on the Straits of Lepanto, defeating them and recapturing Venice.
