The famous Spirit of southern Spain is refreshing and bright with a zip of exotic spice.

Licor 43 was invented in 1946 by Diego Zamora, his brother Angel, his sister Josephina, and her husband Emilio Restoy. Taking inspiration from the local legend of an ancient "Liqvor Mirabilis" they created Licor 43. They began by bottling it themselves by hand. But things went so well they soon founded the Diego Zamora Group and expanded production. Although they have added new Spirits and beverages to their lineup, Licor 43 is still the core of the company by far.

Licor 43 Original is the most popular Liqueur in Spain and one of the fastest-growing Spirits in the world — especially in Latin America where it has found an eager and thirsty market. The "43" in the name comes from a blend of forty-three ingredients that have been in the original secret recipe from day one. The fruit and botanicals are infused in batches and then married to achieve the perfect balance. Then they are rested for six to nine months to allow the flavors to fuse and harmonize before being bottled at 31% ABV.

Smartass Corner:
Legend has it that when the Romans conquered the region of Cartagena in 209 BC they found the locals making a sweet Spirit infused with local fruits and botanicals. The Romans called this indigenous dram "Liqvor Mirabilis" (marvelous liquid).

Asked for an Irish Coffee in M...

Asked for an Irish Coffee in Miami and our waitress said, "Try this instead and it's on me if you don't love it." A Carajillo is a Spanish version of an Irish coffee and ours was made with Licor 43. For me, no sugar or cream was necessary, Licor 43 fully replaces them and then some!
Not only did we have a second round, but we also brought home several bottles which, sadly, are now empty. Please, Flaviar, stock Licor 43 soon!
