Majestic Symphony of Fire and Ice
Sweden, the far-away land of Vikings, blonde hair and convenient furniture, isn’t exactly known for producing Whisky. Which is surprising, since they have all the important ingredients. People who founded Mackmyra Svensk Whisky back when everyone was freaking out about Y2K know that, so they combined the cleanest water (since Ice Age), the sweetest barley (Swedish summers are longer), and the Swedish oak, which is harsher than the Yankee variety. Behold, a true Northern Whisky with a complex character of sweetness and spice.
With this bottle, named ‘Skördetid’ (meaning ‘harvest time’), the gang behind it wanted to do something bolder: add some fiery Italian passion. They teamed up with Masi, a wine producer from Valpolicella, one of the best wine regions of Italy. The Mackmyra Whisky spent half a year in Masi Costasera Amarone barrels, which lend the harsh Northerner the dark wine-red hue, and the distinctively passionate and rich flavor. Mackmyra is one of a kind: a fun combination of fire and ice.
