A blue Gin that’s anything but gimmicky.
Magellan Gin is named after a Spanish explorer, Ferdinand de Magellan. In 1519, he led five ships on a voyage to circumnavigate the globe and explore the spice islands. Sadly only one returned, but with it came several barrels of cloves; a key botanical in Magellan Gin.
Produced at the Angeac Distillery in the Cognac region in France, Magellan Gin is made using 11 natural botanicals from around the globe. The process starts with the fermentation of wheat grain and local spring water, which is naturally filtered through limestone and demineralized to avoid changing the botanical flavors. The mash is triple distilled before fresh, hand-picked botanicals are added to the mix and redistilled for the fourth time. The master distiller, thanks to years of expertise, takes the heart cut of the Gin, discarding the rest.
Finally, the Gin is infused with fresh iris flowers and roots which impart a pale blue color - yep, that’s a natural blue color - and floral aroma. Magellan Gin makes a brilliant Aviation cocktail - the iris botanical plus creme de violette make perfect bedfellows.
