The Worthy Park Estate in Jamaica has been a working sugar estate since 1720. In 1918 it was bought by the Clarke Family and since 2005, the Mezan distillery has been making a true Jamaican Rum, produced from molasses and double distilled in a copper pot still. Mezan is known for their unique untouched Rums, which means they follow the traditional three rules of aging: no sweetening, no coloring, and light filtering only.
This pure and true Jamaican Rum won a bronze medal at RhumFest in 2017 and with a good reason: its fruity aromas and flavors are made for sipping in a good company on a sunny evening. Mezan Jamaica 2005 Rum proves that a Spirit doesn't have to cost a fortune to be high-end and it's a wonderful gateway Rum for people who otherwise love Malts, but would love to try some piratey booze.
Amber.
Nose / Aroma / Smell
Banana loaf on the nose, soft notes of fruits and molasses. Tropical fruits are complemented by hints of coffee. Warming and pleasant.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
Lovely balance of fruit, oak and alcohol. Hints of banana, but definitely not too sweet. Some hints of honey and vanilla.
Finish
Soft and medium-long, becoming sweeter at the end.
