Old school Rye Whiskey with a Sherry twist.
In 1795, America still had its first president, the O.G. Washington, and there were only fifteen states in the Union. That’s also when Jacob Beam sold his first barrels of corn Whiskey, which wasn’t even called Bourbon yet – not for decades. He concocted his Old Hake Beam not far away from where Limestone Branch distillery stands today. One of Jake’s descendants had an incredibly cool name: Minor Case Beam, and this Rye expression is dedicated to him – an innovative distiller who had to give everything up when Prohibition came.
Today, Minor’s great-grandsons, Steve and Paul Beam, continue the family’s long tradition. They wanted to create a fine and soft Rye Whiskey Minor Case Beam would’ve made if there were no Prohibition. This two-year-old Rye was finished in cream Sherry casks for eight months and it successfully balances sweet fruitiness, warm spices and oak. Don’t let its age fool you, either: Minor Case Rye is a masterpiece in a lovely old school bottle, and wonderfully complex. Raise the glass to not living during the Prohibition.
