An amazing Amaro from the oldest Grappa distillery in Italy.

The beginning of the story of Nardini Grappa is basically the beginning of the story of Italian Grappa, period. Bortolo Nardini was born in 1739, at a time when distillers of Wine pomace had to move from house to house to get their pomace. An accident on Nardini’s travels made him stop at Bassano del Grappa and it was his incredible vision made him stay there. He bought the Osteria al Ponte, which is today’s Grapperia Nardini. For the first time ever, Grappa was produced with a permanent still and Winegrowers were bringing their pomace to the distiller.

In 1779, Nardini Grappa a.k.a. the first Grappa of Italy was created. Since then, they’ve been rather busy continuously improving their process; in 1860, a steam still was used for the first time in the production of Grappa. In 1910, the first Grappa Riserva, aged like a Cognac was born. And most recently in 2019, Nardini family company introduced the first single cask Grappa in the world to celebrate 240 years (!) of the distillery. A single cask was aged for 22 years. Just, wow.

Now, you know the saying: Fine Grappa makes for fine Amaro. Okay, maybe it’s not really a saying but it’d explaining why Amaro Nardini is just so darn good. Balanced, citrusy, and intense, it releases perfectly balanced flavors of liquorice, peppermint, and orange. Sip it slowly after a nice dinner. Neat, chilled, or on the rocks.

Listen gang, this Amaro is unu...

Listen gang, this Amaro is unusually textured, nuanced and distinctive all at once. Throw out the Fernet Branca and the Ramazzotti crap and dive into this baby after you've sampled amari from all the different regions (especially southern Italy, like Lucano from the Basilicata and/or the Vecchio Capo from Calabria (you won't be disappointed).
CinCin,
