The Outlander.
González Byass origins can be traced back to 1835, when the business was started by Manuel María González Angel, who was later joined by an Englishman, Robert Blake Byass. It's one of Spain's most well-known Sherry bodegas. The González family has been involved in many industrial and cultural innovations in the past two centuries. For example, they participated in the introduction of the polo game in Spain, helped build the first grass tennis court, the first train project and so on. Nowadays, the company's sole owner's is the González family; run by the 4th and 5th generation.
Nomad Outland Whisky is González Byass’ newest venture. It's a creation and collaboration between their master blender Antonio Flores, and Richard Paterson, master distiller at the Dalmore. Nomad Outland Whisky is made by blending 25 single malt Scotch Whiskies, mostly from Speyside, and 6 Grain Whiskies, all aged between 5-8 years. After the blending, the Whiskies are further aged for 1-3 years in Scotland, and then shipped to González Byass Serry bodega in Jerez, Spain, for an additional 12 months of maturation in Pedro Ximénez casks. Nomad Outland Whisky boasts a quintessential Scottish character and a soul that is truly Jerezano. Is this the beginning of a new category? The Outland category? That remains to be seen.
