Oban 12 Year Old 2021 Special Release

The perfect balance between lightness and darkness.

Founded by brothers John and Hugh Stevenson, Oban Distillery is found beneath a steep cliff on the West Coast of Scotland in a port town of the same name. In fact, the town was built around the distillery, highlighting the importance of Scotch production to the economy of the day (and probably these days as well!). The distillery itself was built in 1794, making it one of the oldest in Scotland and it’s also one of the smallest. The malt produced here is the embodiment of the salty coastal surrounds of Oban Distillery itself

Oban 12 Year Old 2021 Special Release is the perfect balance between the light and the dark. You know, the good and the bad wolf (except in reality, both are good, just different). Part of Diageo’s Special Release collection 2021 that shares hidden stories about the world’s most revered distilleries, this layered dram begins with a nose, packed with maritime aromas of salt, oil and fresh-charred casks. The palate, though, is something else, releasing notes of sweet chili and lightly sweet citrus along with fresh oak, sweet orange, all rounded up by a long, peppery finish. Balance, man.
