Legend has it that Carlos I has been selling Spanish Brandy since a cellar-master stumbled upon a handful of lost casks in 1889. No one knew when the casks had been filled or who had filled them. But the Brandy inside was judged as superior, and it was named after the famous Spanish conqueror Carlos the First. In 2008, the company agreed to be acquired by an even older Wind and Brandy company in Spain — Osborne. But the traditions and quality have endured.

Carlos I. Imperial XO Brandy De Jerez was created to commemorate a king — specifically the four-hunkdtreth anniversary of the passing of Carlos I. As good as the Spirit is on the inside, one cannot help but notice the exquisite sculpted decanter that radiates regal sophistication. And inside that lovely bottle is a blend of Spanish Brandies — some aged twenty years or more. Oak greets the nose first, followed by deep and rich notes of mission figs, warm roasted walnuts, Nutella cream, and raisins.

The palate opens with a silky mouth-feel with a teasing sharp edge that follows directly from the aromas.

Finish
The finish is long, warm, lightly sweet, and richly satisfying.
