Plantatation Rum offers a diverse range of Rums from the Caribbean. Depending on the plantation and the country of origin, the Rums can vary between soft and aromatic to light and elegant. The distilled Rums are usually aged first in ex-Bourbon casks and then finished at the Cognac Ferrand (their owners) estate in barrels where Cognac or Sherry was matured before.
Plantation Original Dark Overproof is a wet dr(e)am for Tiki Style bartenders. It's a blend of Rums from Trinidad & Tobago, aged for an unknown time in Bourbon casks. It's bottled at an unbelievable 73% ABV. It's perfect for cocktails, BUT also for sipping, if you add a *few* drops of water. Not for amateurs, tread lightly or you'll get stomped!
Zombie Punch (circa 1934):
¾-oz Lime Juice
½-oz White Grapefruit Juice
¼-oz Cinnamon Syrup*
½-oz Falernum
1 ½-oz Dark Jamaican Rum
1 ½-oz Gold Rum
1 oz-Plantation Overproof
Dash Angostura Bitters
6-Drops Pernod
1-Teaspoon Grenadine
¾-Cup Crushed Ice
Put all ingredients into a blender; blend at high speed for 5-seconds. Pour into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with a mint sprig.
*Cinnamon Syrup: Make a simple syrup—½ cup sugar and ½ cup boiling water—infused with two crushed cinnamon sticks, strained after two hours)
