Sophisticated Peruvian Rum.
It all started with Cognac. Alexander Gabriel, an industrious artisan man of affairs discovered Maison Ferrand, one of the oldest brands in Cognac, in 1989. Just a few years later, he decided to find the best Rums of the Caribbean and started Plantation. He found various expressions and started concocting with his team. The artisanal range of Tropical Rums gave us many a great Rum, all created with a vision of perfection. Alexander keeps looking for new exciting Rum barrels, marrying the tradition of Rum-making and ingenious twists. The diverse array of Rums goes through double aging, where two climates and two varieties of oak create unique and breathtaking Spirits: first, they spend some time in ex-Bourbon casks in a tropical climate, before they're moved to France, where they mature in another type of wood.
Plantation Peru 2004 was distilled in column stills at the Destilerías Unidas S.A. de Peru in the Chicama Valley. The arid region is known for El Brujo, while the symbol of the llama on the flask pays homage to the Incas. Peru 2004 has a wonderful combination of maturing casks: First, it rests for a dozen of years in ex-Bourbon casks and casks that used to hold Slovenian wine. That takes place in Peru. Then, when it arrives to France, it's moved to Ferrand casks for another two years. The amber color introduces aromas of tropical fruits, oak and citrus, before we're greeted by a vanilla and oak palate.
