A masterpiece of classic Islay single malt style.

Port Askaig is a small town on the northeast coast of Islay where it faces the island of Jura less than 1/2 mile away on the other side of the Sound of Islay. The Port Askaig Whiskies are a brand of Islay single malt Whiskies named after this picturesque town. London-based Specialty Drinks created the brand by collecting selected casks from some of the largest and most reputable single malt distilleries on the island and producing a series of independent single malt bottlings.

Port Askaig 100° Proof is a modern single malt Islay Whisky made in the the old-world style. Importantly, this means old-world labeling as well. At 57.1% ABV, this is a full cask-strength Islay with all of the big, smoky flavour that lovers of this style crave. It is a prime example of the style with a smoky aroma and a rich, mineral-licorice flavor that is savory and a bit sweet. In Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2017, Port Askaig 100° Proof earned 96.5 points and runner up for Best Single Malt Scotch in the NAS category.

Smartass Corner: See the "degree" symbol after the 100 in "Port Askaig 100° Proof?” That's because it’s based upon an old proofing system that is not used anymore. It was used here to reflect an old-school style of Whiskey. In this case both “100° proof” and “114.2 proof” are correct and mean 57% ABV.
