Dapper style, rich flavour and a fighting character. A true Irish Classic.
Irish Distillers is the wonderfully stubborn subsidiary of the liquor giant Pernod-Ricard. They stubbornly adhere to their time-tested methods and practices for making the world’s most popular Irish Whiskeys and they don’t give a fig-leaf what those crazy Frenchmen think about the matter. Irish Distillers make the famous Jameson, Powers, Paddy, Redbreast, Green Spot, and Midleton Very Rare Whiskeys along with Huzzar Vodka and Cork Dry Gin.
Powers Whiskeys flow from the stills at the Midleton Distillery, a former wool mill that was transformed into a what is now one of Ireland’s most iconic distilleries and home to the world’s largest still with a capacity of over 31,000 gallons.
Powers Signature Release is born in a single pot still. Tall column stills are by far the best when it comes to continuous production capacity, but traditional pot still yields a richer, fuller dram that retains more of the unique character of the spirit.
Aging is done mainly in new American oak, with a dash of Oloroso Sherry cask thrown into the mix. This is a subtle distinction, but you may notice right away that Powers Signature Release doesn’t bite on the first sip — it really is smooth. As it is aged in first-fill casks it doesn't share the essential oils that part from the wood with any prior occupant, so that signature vanilla aroma shines bright and strong throughout. Powers is the perfect entry choice into the world of Whisk(e)y, if there ever was one.
