A bottled-in-bond edition of a classic Empire Rye.

New York Distilling Company opened its doors in 2011. Co-founded by Allen Katz and Tom Potter and located in Brooklyn just across the East River from Manhattan, the distillery is attached to their local bar called The Shanty. This allows them to taste the Spirits they create and sample new formulations live with customers every night. The first product was a classic Gin, but the lineup has been expanded to three Gins, a handful of Rye Whiskies, and flavored Spirits.

Ragtime Rye Bottled In Bond is the bottled-in-bond edition of their flagship Rye. The mash bill consists of 75% rye, 13% corn and 12% malted barley. All of the rye comes from the State of New York, making this tipple an Empire Rye. It was aged for at least 4 years in full-size barrels and bottled at 100 proof, releasing oak, leather, rye spice and peppermint on the dry palate. Now, this creation is smooth enough for neat sipping, but we would probably want to savor it in traditional Rye-forward craft cocktails like a Manhattan or The Sazerac. It’s up to you.
